Capsule Arts were appointed as Art Consultants by Ithra, who are the leading the Deira enrichment project, to curate and style a number of areas throughout the hotel with enhancing accessories, as well as design and produce feature artworks in the hotel's public areas.

Taking inspiration from the surrounding area of old Dubai, with its spice souks, old architecture and abras, guests will be transported across different cultural neighbourhoods inspired by Dubai’s heritage.

We incorporated historic elements such as heritage architecture, authentic handicrafts, garments, and objects associated with customs into the art and accessories package. It was also important to work with a contemporary aesthetic while bringing an Arabic touch to the space. This is conveyed in the application of design, framing and display, as well as the styling of accessories and artefacts.

As guests enter original portraits of the ruling Sheikhs greet them. Their vintage style can be attributed to the brown paper on which white pastel and black charcoal reveal contemporary-style portraits. These portraits were brought to life by Indian artist Vijay Narayanan.

In the lobby, a contemporary interpretation of calligraphy adorns the heritage architecture with 3-dimensional forms. Acting as a courtyard it provides a central focal point for the property where you are afforded multiple views of the artwork as you move throughout the property.

Whereas in the lift lobby, a series of bespoke ceramic plates, commissioned by Clay Studio are decorated with traditional henna patterns to convey a historic tradition of UAE in a contemporary setting.
