As Art Consultants, we were approached to bring a collection of curated art and accessories to the space that would tell a compelling story and complement the existing interiors designed by architect Fadi Sarieddine.
With a creative, young-professional audience in mind, our goal was to bring dynamic energy to the communal spaces while creating an innate sense of belonging and social interactivity. We also wanted to make art a key asset to HIVE and create a unique point of difference. To achieve this, we worked with a series of young, local artists to develop a bespoke collection of artworks and accessories that sparked curiosity and positioned HIVE as a brand embedded within the creative community. This included dedicating two walls to exhibit limited edition prints, abstract photography, mounted 3D objects, and sculptures in a gallery style. A series of decorative items were curated for the large feature bookcases to create a homely, comforting atmosphere. We also commissioned Dubai-based artist Fathima Mohiuddin (also known as Fatspatrol) to create a statement centrepiece for the amphitheatre. This eclectic, monochromatic mural was commissioned to represent the melting pot of diversity inhabiting the city while incorporating the industrial, edgy, and bold look and feel of HIVE.
For the apartments, we developed interchangeable artworks to give both the hotel and residents flexibility and choice. This was created through two designs ‘comfort’ and ‘discovery’, one with a calming, neutral, monochromatic palette with an emphasis on heritage, culture and organic shapes, and the other, offering a more vibrant energy with a varied colour palette and urban street feel.
