Drawing inspiration from the property’s natural environment, our narrative was ‘Where the waves meet the shoreline’. This allowed us to create a serene ambience referencing the gentle movement of the tides, the colour of the sea when light hits it and the act of collecting seashells barefoot along the beach.
Elements of nature are seen throughout the styling including coloured glass, air bubbles, metallic shimmer and iridescent finishes to convey the water narrative. This material is juxtaposed with textured ceramics bringing in form and a tactile quality that connects the guests to the beach and resort living.
For the All-Day Dining, we used objects that reflected beachside living while connecting with the venue’s kitchen and cuisine. In the Academy (the communal library) the styling took on a more masculine feel inspired by yacht design.
The featured artists for the accessories within the space included an array of artisans, independent ateliers and design houses across China, Europe and the UAE. In addition, many of the items were custom-made by us to ensure a unique and authentic interpretation of the narrative.
We were also appointed to create two feature artworks in the lobby. This included two large-scale paintings that were conceptualised by us and executed in collaboration with Art Painting Lab. The abstract compositions infused texture and tonal changes to convey movement while the markings refer to the foam and waves created when the water ripples. A porcelain wall installation by Jennifer Pritchard was also created which represented a macro view of scattered sand particles and gold accents adding shimmer and a touch of luxury to the space.
