Travel Diaries: Misk Art Week

It was six days of engaging with the community, fostering relationships, and soaking in the art through private tours and educational visits to artists' studios and exhibitions, to that point that we feel grateful to be welcomed and invited to Saudi’s up-and-coming creative scene

Launched by the Misk Art Institute is an initiative known as Misk Art Grant, which is an annual event to support, promote, and assist emerging and upcoming artists from the Middle East and North Africa. The focus of this year’s theme is the tradition of the Kingdom’s rich past and present heritage and culture.

Our visit to Misk Art Institute's newest exhibition ‘Echoing the Land’ was nothing short of spectacular. Featuring the work of 20 artists who helped shape the identity of the local art movement. We were immersed with art through the eyes of these 20 pioneer Saudi artists who took inspiration from their external surroundings giving us a vivid insight into their childhood recollections, their landscape, and their culture.

The tour of Tajalat features an immersive experience converging art, technology, and culture. The room, which features live moving projections of the works of 11 Saudi artists, is a wonder in itself, prompting visitors to stay, reflect on the art, and experience the colors, lights, and forms as they are projected onto the screens.
