Recently Capsule Arts founders Deepa Bhatia and Rachael Brown were in India sourcing items for one of our bespoke art consulting projects, an adventure that took them all around the country. Here we bring you some of the highlights from their trip, from the art and architecture of India, to the whole lot of cows roaming the country!
We'll be at Tom & Serg tomorrow night for the Corner Shop-organised 'Shop the Night Market - Christmas Style'! It's the perfect opportunity to do a spot of Christmas shopping, with over 30 vendors selling everything from art to fashion and homeware.
You can find us upstairs with our pop-up shop, bring you a selection of our limited edition art prints by artists from the UAE and GCC, which make lovely and unique gifts.
See you there!
Tonight from 7pm, a new exhibition of Tunisian-French street artist eL Seed opens at Tashkeel studio hub, showcasing the results of his year-long residency at the creative space. Titled 'Declaration', the exhibition will run until 27 December, and it sees eL Seed take his Arabic calli-graffiti off the walls and into three-dimensions. Talking to Anna Seaman for her recent article for the National, eL Seed says, “This show is a love declaration to calligraphy...It is an ageing art and it deserves to be honoured – this poem perfectly matches that idea.”
Ahead of the opening, here we take a look at some of Capsule Arts' favourite artists creating contemporary Arabic calligraphy, both two and three dimensional...
