Back in 2010 GYEM had a home at Dubai Festival City, that unfortunately no longer exists. Since then this amazing group of focused and self-motivated youth have been working hard to realise a new space for the community, where young people can come together to create and innovate. Now in their final stages of funding they've initiated a crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo. Here's a video from them about why they need our support to build the first youth hub in the region.
In the lead up to the launch of Capsule Arts Studio, Capsule Arts and partner company Lobo & Listone commissioned The Domino to create a mural for permanent display on the front fascia of their Al Quoz warehouse. Inspired by Dubai and it's ever changing landscape, artists Fathima Mohuiddin and Paul Brewer spent 10 days working late into the evening on a scaffolding tower to transform the building into a site for public art.
A vibrant depiction of Dubai, the abstract artwork takes you from old Dubai to the contemporary metropolis we see today, filled with elements from Dubai's heritage, culture, architecture, and urban city life.
Here's a few pictures of the journey, and we hope you pop by to see the real thing.
Thank you to many of you who came to our official opening of Capsule Arts Studio, and the launch of our first limited edition print collection last Thursday. We hope you had a fun evening, enjoyed the artworks on display, and had a chance to meet the artists. If you didn't manage to make it, here are some great pictures that everyone has been sharing with us. You can also see more at #CAlaunch
