Last Thursday the Capsule Arts team headed down to the carpark of Media One Hotel to Tiger Translate. An event developed to celebrate global creativity through exposure to different cultures and experiences. The hype around the event had been building for days as images of the artwork gracing the walls of the carpark were making their way around social media. During the week long set up four International street artists were paired with four local artists to create a series of collaborative artworks, presented in a series of bays as you entered the event. Curated by Fathima Mohiuddin (aka The Domino) the project brought together artists from the East and West working with the Tiger Translate's Streets theme. The artist duos were Paul Brewer and Enforce One, Darwin Guevaara and A.N.Unaran, Sasan Saidi and Nick Ford, and Konan Lim and Batbayar Purew.
It was great to see many of the artists working live and to chat with them about their work and experience of the project, here's a few shots from the night.
Artwork featured throughout the venue included a large mural by Internationally renowned Sheryo, named in the top 10 street artists to watch in 2013.
The night was also filled with live musical performances and lots of activities to keep you fully immersed in Tiger Translate - from face painting, to trying your hand at digital graffiti. The Creative Lounge was an area where you had the chance to unleash your own creative skills inspired by the evening on furniture and tiger bottles.
A unique venue for Dubai, a great crowd and a lot of fun, exactly the kind of event we crave here in the UAE - bravo to event organisers Custard Communications, more please!
