Meet Noush like Sploosh

Noush Like Sploosh is a songwriter, visual artist and filmmaker. She believes that if the medium is the message then one must have access to many mediums to adequately communicate the complexities of the human experience. This belief is what has led her to explore and experiment throughout her artistic career and allowed her to discover the mysterious connections between each craft.

Through interdisciplinary art Noush is leading storytelling back to its glory days. Her art is mixed with scientific diagrams, principles of physics, biology and the nuances of Victorian engravings. Within her artwork one can find influences of the Victorian era and turn of the century circuses integrated with found-object art and site-specific installations.

A little prop-building here, a screen print there, animating her intricate sketches to storyboarding a music video - an ideal day in the studio often sees her experimenting within different mediums engaging in the constant study of the connection between things, disciplines and how we learn.

Noush’s work deals with the cyclical narrative philosophy which states that there is no beginning or end. Instead everything works in spirals and as a result the past holds as much weight as the present.

Her stop-motion animated music video, 3 Act Circus, was nominated for Best Foreign Short at the AniMazing Spotlight festival in California, and was screened at the Gold Lions festival in Swaziland, as well as the Gulf Film Festival, Dubai. It also aired on MTV India, Dubai One and NHK Japan.

Noush received her BFA from Concordia University, Montreal and has a background in theatre design and film animation. She currently works independently out of her studio in Dubai.

This Autumn Capsule Arts will launch a set of limited edition art prints by Noush Like Sploosh that will be available to purchase at capsulearts.com, for more details about her featured artworks and the launch collection sign up here.
