Meet Nivedita Saha

Nivedita Saha’s work is inspired by the mutation of humans. Her work approaches subjects through a deeper human psyche, strange portrayal of creature’s sometimes grotesque, forms as if in fluid motion, in an array of patterns, shapes and suspended spaces that seem to expand and contract. She believes that we as humans are in constant mutation, changing all the time under the influence of people, surroundings, space and time.

Nivedita’s work explores portraits of people she has known over a period of time, depicted in a world where everything seems possible, like dreams, they are born from real anxieties and experiences. She captures the dark whimsical melancholy of her subjects, approaching them like a child would; unbiased, honest and surreal, yet close to reality. Her paintings are a reflection of what experiences and environment imprints on the soul and body. Above all it is her way of communicating with humanity at large.

She calls herself a Visual Story Teller. She says, Art is her habit and like a sponge she is porous, constantly absorbing inspiration from everyday life, people, personal experiences and stories that touch or move her.

Nivedita’s journey towards an artistic career was not an easy one. Juggling responsibilities with trying to support her family and at the same time pursue a life of artistic passion, it wasn’t until Nivedita had achieved success in the field of Advertising and IT over a decade that she finally had the opportunity to become a fulltime Artist.

Having moved to the Middle East she has followed her passion for fine arts and found a foothold in the art world. She says, “There’s no retirement for an artist, it’s a way of life with no end in sight, only a path to follow”.

Her body of work involves diverse methods of creating art such as Drawing and illustration, Painting, Printmaking and Sculpture. With a signature style, her art is conceptual and meaningful. For her, communicating with the audience through her work will mean that she can call herself an artist.
