Roosters in suits, Crocodiles in suspenders and Wild West Goats in cowboy clothes are a few things that Matthew Ryder’s wild imagination comes up with. His caricatures, stylized portraits and wildlife paintings are as beautiful and detailed as they are awkward and comical.
Ryder is a Fine Artist and Illustrator living and working in the UAE. He takes inspiration from everyday people, life and the world of politics and celebrity, and puts his own twist on them. Ryder uses a variety of mediums to convey his illustrations including watercolour, acrylic, pen and ink, and digital.
He’s done illustrations of Mark Wahlberg, Florence and the Machine, President Barack Obama, Steve Jobs and many others. His love for animals also means that he does plenty of watercolor paintings of animals, both life-like and Character based.
Ryder’s work has been exhibited around the UAE, published in newspapers, books and magazines all over the world and he has recently finished working on several children’s book covers as well as a large series of paintings for a major hotel group in the UAE.
