Arabesque cities and mosques painted in a multitude of starkly contrasting colours, that glitter and glow with vibrancy are characteristics of artwork by American artist Emily Gordon. Highly influenced by her 34 years in the Middle East and her fascination for sensual shapes, colors and designs of Arabic, Moorish and Byzantine architecture, her mastered technique brings every object into life and movement.
Gordon's work consists of multiple layers of acrylic paint, interlaced with paraffin, resin, gold and silver leaf. This unique style of art was personally developed though years of extensive experimentation until she finally found the final technique she found satisfying. It achieves remarkable visual depth that viewers can simultaneously find mesmerizing and thrilling.
Many of her works are highly abstract. She often creates cities that appear mountainous in quality and buildings that pile upon buildings and the world itself is a psychedelic inversion of colour.
This Autumn Capsule Arts will launch a set of limited edition art prints by Emily Gordon that will be available to purchase at capsulearts.com, for more details about her featured artworks and the launch collection sign up here.
