Opening day of the exhibition Wild Things, curator Fathima Mohiuddin (aka The Domino) announced '83 pieces of work all from locally based artists. Damn straight there's artists in this city ready to put their work out there!', and it's true. The evening had a real buzz about it as local artists, comrades, friends, and Dubai's arts community mingled with energetic conversation and laughter. It may seem strange to comment on at an exhibition opening but people were engaged in the art, and that in itself is refreshing. The UAE's local artists have never been stronger and are improving with each exhibition, commission, opportunity and exposure. Long may it continue.
Wild Things is on at Fn Designs in Alserkal Avenue, Al Quoz until 27th February 2013.
