As part of Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Festival (ADMAF) an exhibition of contemporary Arab art titled '25 Years of Arab Creativity' opened at Emirates Palace last week. Travelling on from it's debut at the Institute du Monde Arabe, the exhibition includes paintings, sculpture, photography, video and installations, as well as special commissions and works by UAE artists. It's a comprehensive selection of artworks by 47 Arab artists who span across the region - some living in Europe or the USA, and some still routed in their homelands.
Out of the 12 UAE artists featured, 10 have been specially curated in the section titled Three Generations, marking 10 years of ADMAF and showing you the divergent creative practises of Emirati visual artists across three generations.
The exhibition is well worth a visit and is on until 31st March 2013 - pick up a copy of the accompanying booklet as it has an interesting introduction to the arab contemporary art scene by the exhibition curator Ehab El Labban, and a short piece on the Three Generations section.
Here are a few pictures to give you a taster, I'm afraid the lighting was very dim so excuse the photo quality - more reason to go see it!
